Item Description
The locality at Falin Lake in the Viù Valley of the Italian Alps is well-known for producing some excellent examples of crystallized Epidote, including some of the best twins you'll see of the species. This piece is a wonderful, classic, sharp, rather lustrous, striated, fairly thick, semi-translucent, deep golden-green colored twinned crystal, free of matrix. You can clearly see the textbook reentrant twin line on the top of the piece. One side of the crystal is not complete, presumably it was detached from the pocket/vug. Despite that fact, the actual faces on this crystal are incredibly well-formed, smooth and lustrous. If you collect twinned crystals or you like Alpine minerals, this is a good representative example of these beautiful specimens from this well-known locality. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
