Item Description
A very rare locality specimen of Epidote which is labeled as coming from Poison Creek in Plumas County, California. I was able to find another similar specimen with a quick Google search, so I'm very confident the locality is correct. The piece is a lovely "jackstraw"-esque group comprising very sharp, lustrous, prismatic crystals free of matrix. Unfortunately most of the terminations are contacted, but if you backlight the crystals you can see a lovely rich extra virgin olive oil green hue inside some of the thinner prisms. If you collect California minerals, this a great opportunity to pick up something that is incredibly scarce on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7779). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
