Item Description

This specimen was collected by a good friend of ours in Greece in 2018. It hails from the little known skarn deposit called Kimmeria near the town of Xanthi in northeastern Greece. I've seen only a handful of these over the years. This is the first specimen of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions and it features dozens of very sharp, lustrous, well-formed, prismatic crystals of dark green colored Epidote measuring up to 4.2 cm free of matrix matrix. No other species appear to be present. Nearly all of the crystals are undamaged, there are spots on the back / bottom of the piece that appear to have been contacted at one point, but seem as though they are recrystallized in areas, so it's in great shape all around. If you collect worldwide Epidotes or if you're a fan of Greek minerals, don't miss out on this one, as they are rarely available on the market.
