Item Description
An exceptionally rare pseudomorph from this obscure Baja, Mexico locale. Lustrous epidote has replaced a large sharp complex garnet dodecahedron. The little side cars add character. Spessartine garnets featured in the MINDAT photo gallery for the locale are trapezohedrons, so this is an extreme doubly rarity being a pseudomorph and a dodecahedron. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5813 and acquired in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A very exotic and rare older pseudomorph from this locale.
