Epidote on Quartz (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A VERY hard to obtain specimen from Grouse Valley in Sequoia National Park featuring a sharp, lustrous, very dark green colored prismatic Epidote crystal group measuring 1.6 cm sitting on colorless, VERY gemmy, hexagonal Quartz crystals. The Quartz was difficult to photograph, but looks better in person and is shown to be nearly water clear in areas when backlit. No major damage on the display side, just a few tiny nicks and one band on the Quartz crystals of interrupted growth, but not damage. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5069). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
