Item Description
Epidote is known from any localities around the world, and most famously from the renowned Knappenwand locality in the Austrian Alps. Most of the Epidote specimens you'll see from Pakistan are found in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, but there are some superb quality specimens that have come out of Balochistan recently, and this piece is a nice example of said material. It's from Zard Mountain, which is not terribly surprising, as many of the "Alpine-Type" localities in Pakistan have produced similar minerals to their true European Alpine counterparts. The piece hosts crystal clusters of Epidote measuring up to 1.7 cm across with good luster, sharp and smooth crystal faces and a dark greenish-black color sitting white Quartz matrix. You can see the individual crystals that comprise the clusters have attractive "chisel"-shaped terminations. The piece is in decent condition, but there are rough spots here and there. A good example of this seldom-seen material.
