Classic old-time epidote from the famous Alpine clefts at Knappenwand, source of world-class specimens and surely one of Europe's great mineral deposits. Knappenwand was discovered in 1865 and this cute textbook thumbnail comes with a 1892 label. The textbook sharply terminated, lustrous prism has typical dark olive-green color. The well-striated prism faces set off the sharp, offset chisel termination, adding pizzazz. A very fine and pristine thumbnail from this important Austrian and European locale.
