Item Description
From a find in late 2011, these are most unusual and interesting Epidote crystals from Baluchistan (where the exicitng Brookite and Anatase specimens are coming out). These crystals do not have the characteristic thin prismatic appearance of those from places like Tormiq or Alchuri, but rather are opaque and blocky, with a notably darker green hue, and a distinctive secondary coating of what I'm told is Magnetite, as these crystals show a weak magnestism when exposed to magnetic objects. This compressed orthorhombic (pseudo-hexagonal and pseudo-octahedral) crystal group has good form, and is good sized for the locality. It is nearly damage free (only a few tiny nicks), and basically a "floater", which is another interesting aspect of these pieces is the fact that the large percentage of them are "floaters", which is unusual for Epidote in my experience. A good overall specimen of this now difficult to find material. It's my understanding that specimens from this find have disappeared from the market, so if you want one, pick them up while you can. Originally valued at $595.
