Here we have a superb example of these top-tier Epidote specimens from Pakistan. These beautiful and superb Epidotes date back to the 1990s, when we started seeing many good quality specimens of this material on the market. Today it has become increasingly rare to find excellent specimens such as this from Hashupa on the market. The Pakistani specimens are seemingly identical to their classic European Alpine counterparts, and an argument can be made that in certain instances, they the European specimens have been surpassed with regard to overall quality and gemminess. This gorgeous small cabinet is a very showy, multi-terminated, sharp, highly lustrous "Faden" crystal group featuring excellent, sharp, lustrous "sword"-shaped crystals, free of matrix. "Faden" is the German word for "string" and with strong backlighting, you can see the fibrous "string" that runs across the lower portion specimen. The piece is in good shape, but there are some imperfections here and there. It looks fantastic from either side. The upper portion of the main crystal is WATER-CLEAR and the color is a rich golden hue with a slight greenish overtone. You just don't see pieces like this on the market now, and if you consider that most Epidote crystals around the world are "black" and opaque, this piece is in the higher echelon in terms of quality for the species. Priced at $2,500 on the previous dealer label, the piece originally came from the well-known dealer Herb Obodda. A FREE custom acrylic display piece is also included with the specimen.
