Epidote (excellent) ex Kay Robertson Coll.

Item Description

Lustrous, translucent, olive-green epidote crystals with sharp chisel terminations, to 1.3 cm, are aesthetically festooned on the matrix plate on this showy and excellent two-sided small cabinet from Baja. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4248 and acquired from Lee Shale at the Culver City Show in 1965. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Old material of this quality is rarely available today. These are high quality Baja epidotes with above average translucence, as the back lighting shows.
