Item Description
A very rare seen specimen of crystallized Epidote from Zimbabwe. Originally the piece was labeled as coming from a place called Mtako in the former nation of Rhodesia. This could possibly be Masvingo in modern-day Zimbabwe, but I'm not certain. A pair of intergrown, sharp, lustrous, rich green colored, prismatic Epidote crystals with moderate translucency. The crystals are contacted on the ends, but I can see a tiny bit of crystal faces on the terminations. As I said, rare material for the country in general, and certainly worth picking up if you collect oddball locality specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6097). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
