Item Description
A pair of stout textbook monoclinic crystals of Epidote with sharp, lustrous faces and a deep black-green color. Both crystals are actually doubly-terminated! When backlit, the piece even shows a little bit of gemminess. The piece has a few separation marks where other Epidotes once grew, but for the most part, it's complete all the way around. The piece is from Baja California, Mexico (labeled as coming from a place called Rosario - but more than likely from San Quintin), and certainly would pass for Alaska or various European Alpine localities. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4202). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive piece from this unlikely locale.
