Item Description
An attractive thumbnail sized specimen of the classic Epidote crystals from the world famous Knappenwand. A group of fine quality, sharp, rich golden color, prismatic, lustrous, crystals in parallel growth. Typically the specimens from the Knappenwand are too dark to see any color, but this piece is thin enough that some color actually shines through with good backlighting. Overall in great shape, but one of the terminations is contacted. A fairly good specimen of this well known material from this world-famous locality in the Austrian Alps. From the collection of Brian Kosnar. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9613). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
