Item Description

From the most famous Epidote locality in the Czech Republic, here we have a great representation of the famous Sobotin (Sobotina) specimens. The locality at Pfarrerb has produced some iconic Epidotes, though they are rarely seen on the market or in collections. This piece is filled with rich pistachio-green colored "fan"-shaped groups of Epidote that show razor sharp faces and a "wet" luster. The matrix appears to be some kind of K-Feldspar. Great quality all around with only a few rough spots. These are hard to find, and if you collect European minerals, don't miss out on this one! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11007). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
