Item Description
Knappenwand sets the world standard for epidote. The sharply and complexly terminated, highly lustrous, olive-brown crystal is partially gemmy. It is complete all-around and lights up when backlit. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only very trivial side and edge wear. This is a highly representativie and showy single crystal example of the species and famed locale. Most of these were found prior to the 1950s, and as far back as over 100 years ago. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
