Item Description

Epidote and apatite combination specimens from Knappenwand are a worldwide classic. A well-placed pair of gem apatite crystals with byssolite inclusions rest below a large, blocky epidote crystal. The entire, two-sided piece is a jackstraw cluster of intergrown, highly lustrous olive-green epidote prisms. There are also plenty of green actinolite (variety byssolite) hairs scattered about in clusters. Most crystal terminations where contacted against the pocket walls, which is acceptable for such well-known material. Ex A.K. Borland Collection, a prominent mid-20th Century English collector. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and valued by him at $600, five or more years ago.
