Item Description

Epidote specimens are rare to find on the market from this isolated island locality, which lies about 150 miles west of Baja California. This miniature sized specimen features sharply terminated, lustrous, translucent to opaque, light to dark green Epidote crystals up to 1.6 cm forming an attractive overall specimen. A few crystals are broken, but the piece is in good shape overall. If you collect Epidotes or minerals of Mexico, this is a cool piece to add to your collection from a fairly obscure locale. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020, and originally from Al's Minerals of Bloomington, California. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
