Item Description
Alchuri is a well-known "Alpine"-type locality in the high mountains of Pakistan that has produced some beautiful crystals of Epidote and Clinozoisite that are quite similar to those from the European Alps. The piece hosts a handful of very sharp, highly lustrous, GEMMY, rich golden colored prismatic crystals free of matrix. The base of the piece is actually "re-healed" (re-crystallized), which technically makes the specimen doubly-terminated. With backlighting, you can see the Epidote crystals are WATER CLEAR in areas! When the piece is rotated in the light, it shows a decent amount of pleochroism which shifts from golden to more of a greenish-yellow to a richer "root beer" color depending upon the angle in which it is viewed. Overall, the piece is in great shape and this is a good quality example of the species in terms of crystal form and quality.
