Epididymite on Arfvedsonite, Aegerine

Item Description

Small divergent sprays of Epididymite decorate a cluster of prismatic Aegirine and fibrous-like Arfvedsonite crystals along with several Parisite crystals from Mount Malosa. The lustrous, dark green Aegirine crystals average 2 cm in size and are essentially in parallel growth. An elongate spray of Epididymite beautifully accents the group of crystals right in the middle of the cluster and consists of well over a dozen 2 to 3 mm, ivory colored crystals that exhibit a pearly luster. Numerous, 1 to 1.5 mm, flesh colored, pseudohexagonal crystals of what is either zircon or perhaps Parisite-(Ce) are scattered, mostly in isolation, about the piece. This is a a nice miniature combination piece from the alkali pegmatites of the Mount Malosa region in Malawi.
