Item Description

A notably hard to find, old-time Eosphorite crystal dating back to the 1980s from the lesser-known Criminoso claim in Brazil. This piece is a good-sized and rather gemmy single prism with a glowing peach-orange hue, and no matrix. The piece weighs 3.51 grams, and is complete for all intents and purposes, though there is a separation mark on the back where another crystal grew. One rarely sees crystals of this size with such a glowing hue and good internal gemminess, I've only seen a few from Brazil over the years, and this might be the biggest one we've ever had to offer. A really choice example of a gem quality phosphate species in a good sized display specimen.
From the collection of world famous mineral dealer Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), who was the namesake for the phosphate Kosnarite. Rich had a strong presence in Brazil in the 1970s when he imported many gem crystals during that period.
