Item Description

Eosphorite is an uncommon secondary mineral in phosphate bearing granitic pegmatites. This is a interesting intergrown group of crystals with an echanting golden internal color when backlit. The luster and translucence are good and the crystals show excellent striations to good effect. This is a fairly eye-catching piece whereas most of these old Eosphorites are rather brown and dull. Many of the crystals are unfortunately contacted, but one rarely sees this material on the market, and it's certainly worth picking up for its unusual appearance and the rare locality. The largest Eosphorite measures 2.4 cm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6627). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
