Item Description

Eosphorite and zanazziite are rare phosphates and the finest combination examples of the species come from this famed pegmatite located on an island in Minas Gerais. The Lavra da Ilha is the Type Locality for zanazziite, which was not described as a new species until 1990! Two, intergrown, radial clusters of gemmy, golden-amber, eosphorite crystals rest atop a field of lustrous, translucent, olive-green, zanazziite crystals on feldspar. Not only rare, this is also a very aesthetic combination specimen from the famous early 1970s finds. Ex Jaime Bird Collection.
