Item Description

Striking sprays of moderately lustrous, terminated metallic-gray enargite blades are dramatically clustered atop the 3-sided matrix of intensely sparkly microcrystalline pyrite and smaller enargites on this very sculptural and aesthetic specimen from an obscure Peru locality. The blades reach 3.5 cm and the piece has outstanding 360-degree viewability. The Art Soregaroli label says the San Cristobal Mine in Junin Department, but MINDAT does not list the species for this silver mine (but since Art was editor of the Peru book and had many weird locality things from Peru, I am loathe to change his label). These enargites rank with the finest, that have come from any Peru locality and this is an outstanding example, with very few barely noticeable broken blades.
