Item Description

The Quiruvilca Mine is noted for having produced some of the world's finest enargites and this is a rich and excellent large specimen. Sharp, prismatic crystals to 2.3 cm, with flat terminations and characteristic form richly and attractively cover the matrix plate. The crystals have moderate slate-gray luster and the crystals appear to have a thin tetrahedrite coating, that partially obscures the striations on the sides (typical for the locale). All of the major crystals are pristine and the bruising on the front of the plate is a minimal detraction. Specimens of this quality came out in the mid-1970s to early 80s. Ex Don Belsher Collection.
