Item Description
Butte, Montana is one of the great historic mining districts in the United States. Many excellent sulfide species have come out of Butte, and the district is famous for producing some of the finest crystals of Enargite ever found. The Leonard Mine is often cited as the premier mine for the species in Butte. This piece is filled with excellent, razor-sharp, highly lustrous, dark metallic grey-black colored tabular striated crystals of Enargite measuring up to 5 mm on matrix. Minor damage can be seen, but it's still in good condition overall. A nice overall specimen of this historic and now elusive material.
