Item Description

A beautiful old classic specimen of the uncommon copper bismuth sulfide Emplectite from the type locality, the Tannenbaum Mine in Saxony, Germany. This small cabinet specimen features fine, sharp, lustrous, silvery-white colored prismatic "needles" of Emplectite measuring up to about 5-7 mm scattered throughout the display side of the piece. If you collect sulfides / sulfosalts or if you are a fan of species from the type locality, don't miss out on this one as they are very rarely available on the market! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6030) with a label from G. Hertel of Freiberg, Germany. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
