Item Description

A 5.3 cm partially doubly terminated emerald crystal 'smokestack' dominates this sculptural large cluster of intergrown crystals from the world's largest emerald deposit. The textbook hexagonal crystals have rich green color saturation, good to excellent luster and moderate translucence especially at the terminations, highlighted by the back lit photo. The interesting 4.9 cm terminated crystal on the other end is tectonically broken, bent and recrystallized, adding character. The quartz and mica schist of the country rock are added and typical accessories. These crystals are certainly not as gemmy as good Colombian ones, but this is an older Brazilian specimen and far rarer in specimen quality, in some ways. It is a display quality for emerald as a crystal, if not gemmy per se. Specimens of this sculptural and aesthetic quality are rare on the market compared to massive bulk material produced here for carving.
