Emerald, Quartz & Biotite (Trimingham Coll.)

Item Description

A dramatic and interesting large emerald specimen from Carnaiba, which may contain the most extensive emerald deposit in the world (MINDAT). An 8.2 cm, opaque to tranlucent, rich green hexagonal crystal is jauntily set in large matrix of quartz, biotite AND a bit of molybdenite. Quartz and biotite matrix fills a natural 1.0 cm gap in the emerald. A fascinating large specimen from the Bob Trimingham Collection.
