Item Description
This would not be a bad emerald specimen at all for Columbia - but this one is from Afghanistan! The 2.8 cm crystal is lustrous, translucent and has a beautiful, deep green color. The upper end is broken and the lower end is contacted. The emerald is elegantly set on the starkly contrasting quartz matrix. Emerald specimens from Afghanistan are seldom seen in mineral collections and this is a fine example. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock, valued at $1500-2000 today. VERY rare on the market today, with the ongoing conflict.
