Item Description
Without question the world?s finest emeralds are from Muzo, Coscuez, and Chivor in Colombia. This emerald specimen features a richly saturated, deep emerald green, lustrous and gemmy, emerald crystal which measures 1.8 cm in length by 1.2 cm max width. It has GREAT, INTENSE, HIGHLY DESIRABLE COLOR and is set off nicely on calcite matrix. If this crystal had been any gemmier, it would have been relegated to cutting material and never come out of the mine to us as collectors. Thankfully, it is gemmy enough that we like it as a specimen but it survived the cutters! It is funny that if I were to buy a contemporary example of this material, i'd have to pay more than what I am charging for this antique one which came ot me as part of an old collection?! It was bought by Peter Bancroft, noted author of Gem & Crystal Treasures, in the 1960s and remained in his collection until I purchased his remaining stash in 2006. Valued $3500
