Item Description

A gemmy and lustrous, 2.8 cm, sharply terminated emerald crystal with rich green color saturation is very aesthetically set in a notched vug lined with calcite in shale matrix from the famous Cosquez Mine of Bolivia. The zigzag growth pattern on the emerald prism face is striking and highly unusual! It is the result of contacts to some other mineral, as the emerald crystal grew. The top of the crystal is freestanding and pristine. only minor contacting (roughness) at the base of the emerald is noted. Valued at $1500, this is a fine display-quality emerald miniature. And, unlike many of them which are faked in this size and price range (the material is notorious for this problem, at the source), this is legit.
