Item Description

Most people associate Emeralds with the famous stones from Colombia, but the Bahia state of Brazil has produced some excellent Emeralds in terms of color. This stone is a beautiful, lovely green color, "Oval Cabochon" cut gem from this lesser known locality for the material. It's a unique locality gem and the color is honestly a bit better than the photo/video indicates, as Emerald is one of the most difficult gems in the world to reproduce the color. Emerald is classified as a type-3 gemstone which means that inclusions in the stones are acceptable in the trade for collectors and dealers. With that said, it is very difficult to find a "clean" Emerald that is over a carat. This stone has translucent clarity, and it's a very attractive example of these uncommon stones from Bahia. Keep in mind that Emeralds cannot be held to the same clarity standard to which most stones are held.
