Emeralds are best-known from Colombia. The superb quality of stones found far exceeds any other nation's output. This stone is from Bahia, Brazil, where a good number of Emeralds have been found, but they are not typically the same quality as those from Colombia. This gem has an "Oval Cabochon" cut with a notably vibrant green color and good translucency. It's a fairly unique locality gem and the color not quite as intense as the photo indicates, as Emerald is one of the most difficult gems in the world to reproduce the color.
