Emerald (not from Colombia)

When it comes to gem grade Emerald, the most famous stones in the world are the superb examples from Colombia. With that said, there are limited amounts of fine quality Emerald from the state of Bahia, Brazil. The best of the Brazilian stones nearly rival the Colombian gems in terms of quality and color, but they are obviously much less common on the market. Here we have a wonderful little "Square Emerald" cut stone with vivid color and some slight inclusions. Keep in mind that Emerald is classified as a type-3 gemstone which means that inclusions in the stones are acceptable in the trade for collectors and dealers. With that said, it is very difficult to find a "clean" Emerald that is over a carat. A very attractive example of these uncommon stones from Bahia.
