Emerald in Quartz

This would not be a bad emerald specimen at all for Columbia - but this one is from Afghanistan! The 3.5 cm crystal is lustrous, translucent and has a beautiful, deep green color. The upper end is terminated and the lower end is contacted. The emerald is elegantly exposed in the starkly contrasting sculptural quartz matrix, which includes a nifty pedestal at the base!. Emerald specimens from Afghanistan are seldom seen in mineral collections and this is a good one.
