Item Description
The classic locality of Val Vigezzo in Italy is one of the more unique localities in the European Alps. It's a cool pegmatite locality that is most well known for its Emerald specimens, but it also produces Zeolites, metallic oxides and even rare-earth species. This piece is a classic Val Vigezzo Emerald featuring a predominant 7 mm prismatic, light green, hexagonal crystal of Emerald on matrix. Please note that the specimen appears as if it might be repaired or reinforced, as there is a crack that runs along the center, but does not go all the way through to the back. There are lots of Beryl localities in the world, and everybody is familiar with Beryls from Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Brazil, etc, but how often does one have the opportunity to obtain an Emerald from the Italian Alps!?
