Item Description
The classic locality of Val Vigezzo in Italy is one of the more unique localities in the European Alps. It's a cool pegmatite locality that is most well known for its Emerald specimens, but it also produces Zeolites, metallic oxides and even rare-earth species. This piece is a classic Val Vigezzo Emerald featuring a pair of prismatic, light green, hexagonal crystals measuring 10 mm on matrix. There are lots of Beryl localities in the world, and everybody is familiar with Beryls from Pakistan, Namibia, Nigeria, Brazil, etc, but how often does one have the opportunity to obtain an Emerald from the Italian Alps!?
