Item Description

Beryl in and of itself is an amazing mineral, especially when considering the vast range of colors and environments in which it is found. When it comes to Emeralds, the standard lies with the unmatched specimens from the Cosquez Mine in Muzo, Colombia. Simply put, the finest color and quality Emeralds have been coming out of this area for centuries, and are still being found today. This world famous mine lies about 60 miles north of Bogota and has given collectors amazing display specimens, single crystals and faceted gems. This particluar piece is not from any recent mining, but was found over a decade ago. Good matrix Emerald specimens are hard to find, even today, and this is an attractive specimen featuring a few sharp, lustrous, STRONG green color hexagonal prisms of Emerald that range from translucent to nearly water-clear. The color is incredibly rich considering the smaller size. The crystals are mixed with Quartz and Calcite on matrix. Overall, the piece is in good condition, and this is not your typical Emerald specimen with a crystal that was etched out or chipped out of the matrix to better show its faces. This piece is natural and looks great when displayed. The largest crystal measurs 1.0 cm. Valued at $700.
