Item Description

This is a natural emerald on matrix, of pretty good size and balance. The color is typical for the locality, a forest green, with translucence but not transparency. The major crystal measures 6.5 cm across and is doubly terminated. A small sidecar crystal pokes out of one termination, but is not complete. The main crystal, though, is remarkably terminated on both ends (usually these are completely broken off!). It is perched o a matrix of schist and quartz. Mass is 200 grams. There is a similar styled piece in court in Los Angeles, valued at a per-carat price. Of course, that is slightly misleading way to value these specimen emeralds - they do not have gem rough, although there is some carving value (cabochos, animals and sculptures...) to a crystal this size.
