Item Description

Emeralds have been known for more than a couple thousand years, as there is documented Emerald mining in Egypt dating back to 330 BC. Almost everybody has heard of Emerald, even if they haven't even seen one in person. It's one of the great precious gems, and is often mentioned along Rubies, Sapphires, Diamonds, in the gem world. Most people don't realize that fine gem quality Emeralds are not terribly common, and there are only a handful of localities that really produce anything of value. The Emeralds from Colombia have been the standard-bearer for centuries, both in terms of quality and quantity. This stone is a gorgeous "Oval Cabochon" cut gem with excellent glowing green color. Now there are some visible inclusions, but Emerald is classified as a Type-3 gemstone, which means that inclusions (even small ones) are typically present, and accepted by jewelers, collectors and dealers. Sometimes dealers will actually use the term "jardin" (French for garden) to describe the inclusions inside of an Emerald. If you're looking for a good quality Colombia Emerald for a fraction of retail, this is perfect for you. A great gem for anybody who likes Emeralds. Please note that Emeralds are notoriously difficult to photograph, and this gem looks better in person than in the photo/video.
