Item Description

Without question the largest and finest examples of Elpidite are those from the prolific Poudrette Quarry (Demix Quarry) in Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec. This piece is an impressive cabinet sized display specimen loaded with prismatic crystals of pastel tan colored Elpidite measuring up to 2.6 cm, in an almost "jackstraw"-esque group, free of matrix. There is another species present on the piece with a soft, almost greenish-grey hue (possibly Aegirine), but it hasn't been analyzed to know for sure. The piece is in very good shape all around, and although some of the crystals are broken, it's still a very nice big example of these beloved specimens of this uncommon potassium zirconium silicate.
