Elegant Gold (spinel-twins and octahedrons)

An elegant gold thumbnail from the famous Eagles Nest Mine. This excellent, 3-dimensional, arborescent cutie is composed entirely of bright, very sharply crystallized to hackly, intergrown octahedrons and spinel-twins in attached plates. Many of the octahedral crystals are beautifully hoppered. A normal Eagles Nest gold of this size would be valued at about $800, as they are usually flat. This piece, however, is above average-- being sharply crystallized with fine, sculptural quality. It almost looks as good on the back! The herringbone spinel-twins on the front are flattened octahedrons on the back! Amazing crystalography. This piece is definitely worth a premium, especially with gold currently at over $1200 per ounce. Fairly valued at $1200-1400.
