Azurite plates of this large size and richness with more islolated sharp crystals are RARE and desirable from the renowned Type Locality. Sharp, highly lustrous, blocky crystals, to about 1.0 cm, have rich royal-blue color and GLOW with electric-blue color when back lit. This is an outstanding, large, rich, rare style and historic piece from this famous locale. The ancient copper mines at Chessy closed by 1875, making this piece easily over 125 years old. Exceptional old-time material from the from the Dr. Francesco Bedogne Collection # 163. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector.
