Item Description
Absolutely scintillating "electric-blue" azurites from the famous El Cobre Mine at Concepcion del Oro compare with the best in the world from Tsumeb, Touissit or Arizona for gemminess and vivid blue color. They are small, but they are so fine. Stunning crystals, to about 5 mm, richly and dramatically cover both sides and crest of the sculptural elongated mounded small cabinet. Olivenite, copper arsenate, is rare from this classic Zacatecas locality, but scattered tiny starbursts of light green aciciular crystals along with a few primary malachite plates are outstanding accessories. There is even a 1.3 cm, oxide-coated terminated quartz crystal jauntily perched atop the piece. These highly desirable old classics came out in the 1950s to 70s. The azurites GLOW under bright light! The piece displays beautifully without aid. Seldom on the market in this richness and combination quality. Valued at $750-1000. These are seldom seen for sale!
