Item Description
A striking and very attractive CABINET display specimen of azurite on malachite from the prolific Liufengshan mine. It features hundreds of sharp, very sparkly, navy-blue azurite blades which have formed in "rosette"-shaped aggregates covering the vuggy, undulating matrix of banded, velvety botryoidal malachite. The azurites have fabulous and desirable, "electric blue" gemminess under strong light! The color contrast is just beautiful and truly resembles classic material from Bisbee, Arizona. The specimen displays on its own as shown in the photo, and really draws one's attention. A bit of contacting is noted, but is certainly a modest detraction. For a specimen of this size, it is very showy and is one of the better pieces in this size range that we have offered in the auctions in a while. These specimens are commanding high prices, even from the Chinese dealers. Valued at $700-$900. Ex James Webb Collection. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!!
