Elbaite var. Rubellite

Item Description

A very pretty and rare Elbaite from this obscure Madagascar pegmatite. The crystals are gemmy and lustrous, with two distinct shades of raspberry-red. The combination of color and gemminess really jump when properly lit. Rubellites such as this tend to be given the local varietal name 'Tsilaizite' after the pegmatite, but that is confusing when compared to the varietal 'Tsilaisite' from Italy. Best to stick to Rubellite and/or Elbaite for this really high-quality, aesthetic thumbnail.
