Elbaite Tourmaline with Quartz

Item Description

A nice jewel of a Tourmaline and Quartz miniature from Virgem de Lapa area in Brazil. The sturdy, 3.5 cm, doubly terminated Quartz crystal sits up nice and the two adjacent Elbaites measure 2.3 and 2.1 cm in size, respectively, and each are terminated on one end. The Quartz looks a bit odd at first until oriented properly where the two terminations are evident as are the short prism faces. The transparent to translucent crystal is lustrous with a glassy luster on a couple of faces and a satin luster on others. The two, mostly gem Tourmalines display a mint green color and one has a thin blue cap; both are striated and have a glassy to silky luster. This is a well composed miniature from this pegmatite district!
