Elbaite green-blue with pink cap (ex. Flynn)

Elbaite crystals from the Namibian pegmatites are not common on the market and this is a nice, bi-colored, two and one-half inch crystal from Farm Otjua near Karibib, also known as Becker's pegmatite. This is a gemmy to translucent crystal with a green-blue body and an exterior having a thin pink veneer in places and a pinkish termination. It has great luster and is lightly striated. The pyramidal termination is well developed and has a translucent to nearly opaque pinkish termination; the opposite end was contacted then roughly polished. Elbaite crystals from this locality were rarely gemmy so this one is an exception with its gemmy areas. It has a mass of 26.27 grams. This may be from the 1980s production at the mine. Ex.
