Looking back in a decade or five, we will remember the finds of tourmaline from the Congo as an old classic that briefly, very briefly, produced a ton of gem tourmaline for the sophisticated collector. These come and go, such finds. Snag them when you can! Highly lustrous and translucent, this well formed multicolored tourmaline crystal exhibits a range of the color spectrum, merging into one another: light yellow green color at the termination while the body of the crystal has a rose pink color, with hints of yellow and green. This is a particularly hefty example from the find, at 136.2 grams of tourmaline. The crystal splays out as it gets larger and taller, towards the top, which adds a dramatic visual effect and makes it look bigger. Crystals this size without restoration or damage were rare. As well, this is a very unusual color pattern within the already-wide variety of color patterns in the find. Valued $5000-plus.
