Item Description

A superb old classic of the famous and now incredibly hard to find Dyscrasite specimens from the fames Uranium Mine 21 Mine in Pribram, Czech Republic that came out in the 1980s. This beautiful small cabinet specimen features superb quality, sharp, well-formed, twinned, silvery-grey colored Dyscrasite crystals aesthetically flaring off Native Arsenic matrix. The predominant group of crystals at the front-central portion of the specimen measures 2.5 cm long. Although this is an old location from which Dyscrasite was known a long time ago, the specimens from the 1980s (right before the mine closed) are iconic, and some of the finest examples of the species ever found. Dyscrasite is an interesting species as it is chemically a silver antimonide, and not rather difficult to find in fine crystallized specimens. As a matter of fact, aside from Saxony, Germany, the only other European region to produce excellent Dyscrasite specimens is Pribram. It's also important to note that most of these important specimens came out rather clunky, or so jumbly the crystals had little individual definition in context, but this piece truly stands out amongst nearly all I have seen for the overall aesthetics and superior quality. From the private collection (not dealer stock) of Herb Obodda (specimen #3456). Priced at $5,000 in the inventory.
